01 / CHOOSE WHERE TO RUN IT
Where this setup works
The guided paths are ChatGPT Work and Claude Cowork. Your account must allow web research, scheduled runs and sending through AgentMail.

Check your account first
An ordinary ChatGPT chat may also have plugins and scheduling. This guide uses Work. If web research, scheduled tasks or email sending are unavailable, the complete flow cannot run in that account. Work and Cowork availability can depend on rollout and workspace settings. Check these controls before buying a plan.
02 / CONNECT A DEDICATED SENDER
Create and verify the AgentMail connection
Create an account at AgentMail Console. For your first test, use an AgentMail address. You do not need a custom domain.
As checked on 14 September 2026, its free plan includes 3 inboxes, 3,000 emails per month and 100 per day. Research uses your AI plan’s allowance separately. AgentMail handles the report content and recipient address.
ChatGPT Work setup
- Open ChatGPT and select Work. In the browser, Work runs in the cloud. In the desktop app, open the mode control labelled Work locally and select Cloud if available for this task.
- Open Plugins in the sidebar. Find AgentMail, install it and connect your AgentMail account when prompted.
- Start a new Work task with AgentMail available. You can type @AgentMail to select the installed plugin.
Claude Cowork setup
- Open Claude and select Cowork. Use a paid account with Cowork and Scheduled available. If your workplace controls access, an owner may need to enable it.
- Open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector. Name it AgentMail and use the URL below.

Select Add, then Connect. Sign in through AgentMail Console and return to Cowork. This sign-in flow needs no API key. AgentMail’s Claude instructions.
Ask: “List my AgentMail inboxes.” A returned list, including an empty list, confirms the connection. If it is empty, ask the AI to create one dedicated inbox for this briefing. Note its sending address and the usual email address where you want to receive the report.
03 / GIVE IT THE JOB
Paste this into Work or Cowork
For example: “Follow new announcements from these three companies. Send up to five useful updates in English, with links, each Monday at 08:00 Copenhagen time.” The schedule starts the research, so the email may arrive a little later.
Set up a recurring web briefing sent through AgentMail. First confirm this session can search the web, create scheduled tasks and send through AgentMail. Help me connect a dedicated AgentMail inbox if needed. Tell me whether runs are in the cloud or need my computer on. Ask what to research, preferred sources, report length and language, how often to run, start time and time zone, and my recipient address. Use accessible sources, include links and publication dates, and focus on updates since the previous report. Say when there is nothing useful to report. Put the full report in the email body. Keep the subject line clear and specific. Show a sample and the sender and recipient. Ask permission for one test and recurring emails to that address. After approval, save the complete instructions and test one run through the scheduler with recurrence off. Ask me to confirm the full report arrived. Only then enable recurrence. Show the saved task, next run and how to pause it. If a tool, connection or permission blocks this, explain what needs fixing. Only claim a task exists or an email was sent when the tool confirms it.
04 / TEST BEFORE RECURRING
Confirm the whole report arrives
- Answer the setup questions, review the sample, and confirm sender and recipient. Use sources that the tool can open. A paywall or login may leave it unable to read that source.
- Save the complete research and sending instructions in the task. Run one test using a one-off schedule or the scheduler’s manual/on-demand option, with recurrence off. Confirm any Schedule or Run button the app presents.
- Check the scheduled run history and AgentMail sent folder. Then check your inbox and junk folder. Do not retry until you know whether a message was sent.
- Confirm receipt only after the full body arrives. Enable recurrence, then check the saved task and next run. Keep the task paused until this test has worked.
Open Scheduled to inspect the saved task and run history. In Cowork, you can use New task → Set up manually and a manual schedule for the test, then run it on demand. The success check is the full report in your inbox; a task-complete notification alone is insufficient.
WHEN A RUN STOPS
Fix the named blocker
AgentMail or scheduling is missing
Check that the plugin/connector is installed and authenticated, and that the workspace permits it. AgentMail credentials can expire and sending limits apply. Reconnect, review the run history, then repeat the manual test.
A send asks for approval
Approving a send in the conversation may still leave a tool or workspace approval to complete. An unattended email requires permission that remains valid for the scheduled run. In a Team or Enterprise Claude workspace, an administrator can restrict persistent approval for connector writes. Keep recurrence paused until a scheduler test succeeds.
The report is thin or late
Narrow the subject, name accessible sources, and specify the update window. Scheduled research begins at the set time; an email arrives after the research and send steps finish.
You want to stop it
Open Scheduled, pause the task first, then edit or delete it. Check the latest run and the AgentMail sent folder before creating a replacement.
